Only in our creative acts do we step forth into the light and see ourselves whole and complete.
— The Structure & Dynamics of the Psyche. C.G. Jung CW 8 ¶737

Over eight weeks participants will deepen their creative connection through their participation in the ‘Embodied Imagination’ (E. I.) method. The first session will introduce the E.I. method, offer a demonstration, and incubate a dream to connect to creativity.

In the last session, the group will reflect on the change process, share and consider future actions etc. During the intervening sessions, individual dreams will be worked and shared with other dreamers. Participants will explore their personal relationship with creativity and dive more deeply into their dream world and creative life.

Everyone will connect and benefit from working with others on a creative journey through embodying dreams.

The intention of the course is to connect with your inner creative side and generate a sense of direction for your creativity assisted by dreamwork. This is an opportunity to work with the assistance of dreams to get in touch with your own idea of creativity. That may be through some form of making in different forms and mediums such as writing, painting, drawing, poetry, sculpture.

Or perhaps you understand it as a way of being in and relating to life?

The E.I. method introduces a way to break away from habitual awareness to enable participants to re-exhilarate their creative energy, deepen their authentic creative voice or adopt and work toward a business or creative project.

Course Facilitators:

Two qualified Embodied Imagination ‘Practitioners’, Daniel Gleeson and Linda Zibell, will focus on “dreaming for creativity”.  (NOTE: This is not therapy).

The term ‘practitioner’ is distinguished from the EI ‘therapist’ in that it applies to issues and matters of creativity in our human dealings with broader life.  Practitioners of EI treat the images of participants’ dreams as ‘subjects’: each different image is understood as distinct. As the dreamworker forms the ‘composite,’ their intention is to bring together the diverse energies of the dream images to form a complex system.  Out of this system new information may emerge.

Daniel Gleeson

Daniel Gleeson’s sibling went through a period of psychosis in 1988, and from that time, he longed to find to find better way practically, to assist people in times of stress.  Although his career is a practical one in metal working, he has a Diploma of Remedial Massage and has become an Advanced Consultant Facilitator of the “Three In One Concepts” (a type of Kinesiology for the treatment of learning difficulties (8 years) from Burbank, USA.)

Daniel’s deep interest in Jungian psychology was born out of discovering dream-working in the early 1990's.  He has been keeping a dream journal ever since, while enjoying his practical outlet in metal working.  Qualified as a WTIA welder, he practices the trade of Fitter & Turner Toolmaker and  has managed to combine his two apparently divergent interests into a creative practice arising from his dreams.

Daniel is a sculptor who has completed a certificate in manufacturing engineering, and now as a Certified Embodied Imagination Practitioner, he has found himself even more fully able to pursue his twin interests in the psyche and the experience of dreaming through this method.

Linda Zibell

Linda Zibell’s passion for dreams started in childhood. She first encountered C.G. Jung’s writing in the Monash University library in 1973, while studying General & Comparative Literature. There’s a circle of life roundness to qualifying as a certified Embodied Imagination Practitioner after a three-year course with founder Robert Bosnak. Her personal ‘arts’ activities include hand-building with clay, creative dance, soft pastel ‘painting,’ Japanese Ink-brush painting and creative writing (short fiction and poetry).

She is deeply interested in how dreams and creative action intertwine, prompting a satisfying and engaging process that brings felt meaning to life beyond need for interpretation. This gently allows new possibility and an opening to complexity.

Linda ‘s working life has been as a teacher  of people aged 2 to 62 in Pre-school centres, primary schools, TAFE and Teacher education. Her students have come from all walks of life: many with difficult life circumstances. She holds a Graduate Diploma in Psychology, Lifeline Counselling training, and a PhD in Imagination and Education.

She recently contributed to a book project led by University of Sydney.

Both facilitators will be available to talk about the course and will respond to questions between sessions as needed and provide written composite prompts to help dreamers return to the dream energies.  Repeated returns lodge the dreamwork in long term memory.  By rehearsing the dream essentials that emerge as a ‘composite’ for just three minutes, three times a day, the image energies may be secured in long term memory.  Repeated returns lodge the dreamwork in long term memory.  Via placebo responses new attitudes and understandings may be initiated to prompt creative engagement with life.

Who is this Dream Group for?

  • This dream group is open to all who would like to take a deeper dive and;

  • those who are willing to commit to full participation during each of the eight sessions.  The experience gained through this process during the course represents a ‘sampler’ of the Embodied Imagination method.

  • No previous experience is necessary, what’s important is the capacity to be open and ready to explore.

 **Expressions of Interest & Registration

Expressions of interest will be received at contact@jungsocietymelbourne.com and those interested will be contacted by the facilitators.

**Participants are required to commit to attending each full session of the entire eight-week process.  This will provide a stable container for each participant to conduct their own inner exploration, with the opportunity to share individual insights amongst a closed group.
