“The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.”
Most of us live as though reality is something we observe from a distance. We interpret events, construct meanings, and move through life as separate individuals trying to understand our world.
Occasionally something happens when a moment of beauty, grief, love, suffering, synchronicity, a dream, or a sudden insight strips away the familiar surface of things, and reality ceases to feel like a background and becomes vividly present. We find ourselves not simply looking at life but participating within it.
Drawing on personal experience, Jungian psychology, biblical narrative, the writings of Teresa of Avila, dreams, synchronicity, and the idea of participatory knowing, Mary Duffy will explore a movement from separation toward belonging and the more conscious inhabiting of reality.
At the heart of this presentation lies a simple but challenging possibility: that, the deepest task of human life is not to escape what is real, but to learn how to remain present within it.
